10月19日、20日はべったら市だということを、3日前までは覚えていたが、すっかり忘れてしまった。迂闊にも、望遠レンズで出かけてしまったのである。わかっていれば広角系レンズを持っていったはずだった。そういう時は、それなりに工夫すれば良いと考えるようにしている。

べったら市は、日本橋の宝田恵比寿神社とその周辺に数え切れない露店が並ぶ。今回は、昼休みに出かけ、べったら漬を1本購入。

In Bettaraichi, countless street markets around the Takarada Ebisu Shrine in Nihonbashi are lined. Going out to lunch break, I bought one the Bettarazuke.

Tin and strap of tin. If you ring the bell, someday God will grant your wishes. By the way, Takarada Ebisu is god of prosperous business.

昼休みにべったら漬けを買った新高屋。

Nitaka-ya that I bought a Bettarazuke during the lunch break.

べったら漬けは、大根の麹漬け。べっとりした感じからべったら漬けと呼ばれるようになった。

Bettarazuke is koji (=malted rice) pickled radish. Bettarazuke became to be called so from the feeling japanese "Bettori" (=adhesive).
